Whilst the current Australian Champion Heming Hu and 2020ne Olympian Dave Powell are amongst the best to be in action at the Australia Day 2021 Melbourne Open at LOOPS, the likes of Nicholas Lum (winner of the recent ACT Open in December), u21 National Champion Xavier Dixon and India’s Sanish Ambekar have much to prove at senior level and will headline the open along with Yangzi Liu and Melissa Tapper in the Women’s singles.

“Sanaya Buddhadasa (NSW), Chemaine Quah, Cherry Le, Hannah Green and Olivia Green will also provide some interesting viewing in the women’s singles event” said LOOPS Head Coach Joe Gerada.

In the men’s side, it’s the likes of club local Nathan Pellissier that Gerada is keen to see. “We haven’t seen Nathan in action for sometime, as he’s been in Germany playing. I’m looking forward to seeing him compete as he continues his preparation for the Paralympic Games” Pellissier was a winner on tour on the international scene in 2018 & again in 2019 however has not competed since, like so many others due to COVID.

Matches will hit off at 9:00am whilst the main draw is scheduled to start at 12:00pm.
