Top 4 finish secured as Scotch bow out with win
Some may say a little bit of Irish luck has been with Scotch over the years with Francas Gordan Donaldson, a Belfast man serving as Principal for 25 years (1983-2007). Donaldson left his mark on Scotch with new infrastructure and methods which are still used today but it’s another Northern Irishman who has represented his country with great distinction having competed at 2 Commonwealth games who now leads the line up for this historic school in a different field.
Ashley Robinson head coach of Scotch’s table tennis team has been managing training and team line ups for the past 4 months. In that time Ashley has tried to implement his own techniques to the players and give a different view to table tennis with a different cultural aspect. Ashley said ’Its been great coaching at Scotch. Everyone has been very welcoming and made me feel part of the team from day 1. I have tried to work with the players serve and receiving games since at Scotch as I have always felt that is where the game is won or lost. A top 4 finish was always the aim for us and I’m delighted we have achieved it and it was great to go out on a positive note with the win vs St Kevins on Saturday.
Everyone at HWATT would like to congratulate Scotch on a great season and Ashley Robinson for his efforts. This caps off a stellar season for HWATT coaches with CGS winning the AGSV division, and Wesley placing second in the APS proving HWATT coaches are some of the best in the business. Well done boys!
